Kappa Chi’s Annual Haunted House

A tradition across the neighborhood

2024 Haunted House Coming Soon!

Check back here in fall for theme, time, and more details about this year's haunted house.

Each year, the brothers of Kappa Chi transform the house at Upham into a fully themed haunted house, with a new theme unveiled annually. For example, 2022 featured "Fear Farm," while 2021 showcased a "Haunted Carnival." Admission is free and open to the public. In previous years, we have partnered with local charities, such as Jack's Helping Hand, which supports children with special medical needs, offering visitors the opportunity to make optional donations.

As the primary philanthropy event that Kappa Chi puts on, a lot of pride goes into the construction of the haunted house. Fully decorated rooms and fully costumed brothers help create the full experience of a haunted house. The house is designed to be friendly for guests of all ages, so people young and old can receive a good fright! After visitors make their way through the house, they are treated to a complimentary barbecue hosted in the backyard, with food, beverages, and Halloween candy.

This event helps strengthen the ties that Kappa Chi has to the city, especially the neighborhood. As our main house is located in the historical railroad district, the Haunted House event adds to the overall atmosphere of the area, and helps cement Kappa Chi as a vital addition to the San Luis Obispo Community!
